Review of About That Night

About That Night

About That Night by Julie James is the third book in her FBI/US Attorney series.

Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face to face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she’s stunned. More troubling to the beautiful Assistant U.S. Attorney is that she’s still wildly attracted to him.

Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn’t thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case—but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can’t say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won’t give up on something he wants—and what he wants is the one woman he’s never forgotten. . .

This book is about Kyle Rhodes, who we learned about in the previous book. He’s the twin sister of Jordan Rhodes. Kyle Rhodes is a criminal, albeit a rich and handsome one. You may remember him from his mention in the previous book, as the Twitter Terrorist.

Basically he’s a guy who is a computer guru who goes through a very bad breakup and a bunch of drinks later, he ends up hacking and taking Twitter down for two days. This lands him in prison where he ends up serving only a few months of his 18 month sentence because his sister does a favor for the feds in the previous book.

Now out of prison this billionaire bad boy meets up with a girl he originally met ten years ago, back in college, Rylann Pierce. Nowadays she is a lawyer working at the state Attorneys office and she needs his help. These two have an interesting backstory. Basically they first met in college at a bar. He asks her out and then stands her up. Of course what she didn’t know was the reason for this, which was because his mother died.

But now it’s kind of hard to give the guy a second chance because he’s a convicted felon and she words for the government, putting guys like him away. If she dates him, it could cost her any chance at real success at her career, but then again he is a billionaire. What will she do? I won’t ruin the ending for you, I’ll just say I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. The two have great chemistry and Julie James really does an amazing job and bringing this story to you. Which of course is no surprise, Julie James is an amazing author.

I did like the book a lot but I didn’t rate it as high as I might have because of the price. I don’t see how a publisher can possibly justify pricing an e-book $7.99. I’m sorry but when comporable books are $3.99, it just doesn’t make sense, especially if you consider the fact that this book was released in 2012 so this isn’t a new release.
