Review of The Selection

The Selection

The Selection by Kiera Cass is one of those books that sticks with you for long after you read it. Unfortunately for me, I started reading this book, which is the first in the series as soon as it came out and the next book in the series didn’t come out for almost a year later and then I had to wait another year for the last part of the series.

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape a rigid caste system, live in a palace, and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her, and competing for a crown she doesn’t want. Then America meets Prince Maxon—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

The three books in this series are written as one entire story and the next one picks up where the last one left off. It’s not that there is a cliff hanger or anything, it’s just how the story sort of flows. Let me just say there is a reason why still years after this first book was released it remains one of the best selling books at Amazon. The Selection was a great story. While it’s more young adult than romance, at its heart you still have that love triangle and by book two there is no doubt how its going to end. But in this book it really leaves you thinking the story is going to go one way and that’s with her first love.

Would I read it again now that all the books in the series are out? Yes I would. In fact, I may do that today. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely, hands down I would. Great story. Really well written and likable characters.
