Weekends Required is a contemporary romance novel by Sydney Landon. It’s the first book in the Danvers series which spans at least 7 books to date plus a novella or two that feature stories on smaller sub-characters.
When I first read this book I couldn’t help but notice just how cheesy the cover was. However that being said, this is definitely one of those cases where you shouldn’t judge a book by the cover.
Had I done that, I would have missed out on a great story, that actually kicked off a wonderful series.
Every book in this series introduces you not only to the two main characters, but also the two people who will star in the next book. In this particular case, we got to meet Claire and Jason Danvers.
This was their love story, but we also got to meet Claire’s best friend Suzy Denton, who stars in the next story.
The entire series is this way and all the characters from the previous books will also appear in the next book in the series so you get to keep updates on their lives as well. 6 or even 7 books down the line you are still learning new things about Claire and Jason Danvers.
By the way, if you are a fan of audio-books like I am, this is one series you might want to pass on in that format. Not going to lie, the voice actor took what is an adorably romantic story and made you want to stab your ears out, with a few of the characters. Trust me, on this. Skip the audiobook on this one and read it on your Kindle instead.
